Created and tailored syllabi for aforementioned classes. Mentored graduate and undergraduate scenic designers, and oversaw realized design projects. Recruited future design candidates at the URTA auditions. Also served as guest scenic artist on the spring production of "Knock Me A Kiss", designed by Ursula Belden. Ohio University: Visiting Faculty April of 2007 Served as guest scenic artist for the world premiere of Happy Slap, designed by Ursula Belden. Worked with the student charge artist to mix up colours and work on painting samples and techniques for each show. Demonstrated and taught several scenic techniques, including a cement floor and walls, brick, cinderblock, aged metal and tin, peeling paint, and distressed glass windows. Ohio University: Visiting Faculty January & February of 2007 Served as guest scenic artist for The Sons of Ulster and Conference of the Birds, both were graduate student's mainstage designs. Worked with the student charge artist to mix up colours and work on painting samples and techniques for each show. Demonstrated and taught several scenic techniques, including a very heavy textured and carved floor using Celotex as well as applied texture, naturally aged woods, air spraying, and a marble faux finish master class. Ohio University: Visiting Faculty Fall of 2006 Served as guest charge scenic artist for Time of Your Life and The Comedy of Errors, both graduate student's mainstage designs. Worked with the student charge artist from each production to mix up colours and work on painting samples and techniques for each show. Demonstrated and taught several scenic techniques, including a low relief textured floor, drop construction, layout, cartooning and drop painting, aged iron & steel, glass, mylar applique, and sign painting. Ohio University: Visiting Faculty January & February of 2006 Served as guest charge scenic artist for Cider House Rules and The Fourth Sister, both graduate student's mainstage designs. Worked with the student charge artist from each production to mix up colours and work on painting samples and techniques for each show. Demonstrated and taught several scenic techniques, including a complex parquet floor, several wood finishes and grains, brick, old plaster, tile flooring, corroding metal, and faux finishes on fine furniture. Ohio University: Visiting Faculty Fall of 2005 Served as the charge scenic artist for A Flea In Her Ear, a graduate student’s mainstage design. Taught a variety of scenic painting methods for several different finishes. Lectured in the graduate level scenic design classes, and mentored the students in methods of creating paint elevations, thinking about colour and texture, and overall finish of a scenic design. Peninsula Youth Theatre: Teacher in Mask Making and Scenic Painting 2003 & 2004 Taught youth theatre classes in scenic painting and mask making. Supervised parent crews in scenic painting and props for the past 6 years for productions I have designed. Ohio University: Visiting Faculty & Guest Scenic Designer 2000 Taught graduate level scenic design classes, as well as mentored graduate students during their design process and the realization of their designs on stage. Designed A Streetcar Named Desire and mentored students in design and scenic painting. Served as the charge scenic artist for the production as well, and taught a variety of scenic painting methods. Stanford University: Guest Designer & Lecturer 1998 Taught undergraduate scenic design classes for one quarter, including drafting and model making. Designed one production and collaborated with student designers and crew. Ohio University: Visiting Faculty 1998 Replaced Ursula Belden, Head of the Design Program, for the winter quarter. Taught graduate and undergraduate classes in scenic design and drafting, as well as mentored students in design and scenic painting. American Musical Theatre San Jose: Scenic Painting Master Class 1999 Taught a master class in scenic painting (offered to the public, 25 students) with Pete Kelley, charge artist for American Musical Theatre of San Jose.
