| The inspiration for the scenic design came from rough hewn and aged fencing from a slave plantation in the South. The fence pieces moved across the stage independantly, thereby creating a variety of looks and compositions for the different locations At times they would overlap each other and become more like solid and confining architecture, at other times they were solitary and silhouetted against an open sky. |
